full body massage

Tui Na is a hands-on body treatment that uses Chinese taoist and martial art principles to bring the body to balance. The principles being balanced are the eight principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (qv because TCM was codified by the PRC out of many ancient traditions.) The practitioner may brush, knead, roll/press and rub the areas between each of the joints (known as the eight gates) to open the body's defensive (wei) chi and get the energy moving in both the meridians and the muscles. The practitioner can then use range of motion, traction, massage, with the stimulation of acupressure points; this is claimed to treat both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, as well as many non-musculoskeletal conditions. Tui na is an integral part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and is taught in TCM schools as part of formal training in Oriental medicine. Many East Asian martial arts schools also teach tui na to their advanced students for the treatment and management of injury and pain due to training. As with many other traditional Chinese medical practices, there are several different schools with greater or lesser differences in their approach to the discipline. It is also related to Chinese massage or anma (按摩).

foot massage

Reflexology is the application of appropriate pressure to specific points and areas on the feet, hands, or ears. Reflexologists believe that these areas and reflex points correspond to different body organs and systems, and that pressing them has a beneficial effect on the organs and person's general health. For example, reflexology holds that a specific spot in the arch of the foot corresponds to the bladder point. When a reflexology practitioner uses thumbs or fingers to apply appropriate pressure to this area, it affects bladder functioning.

The popular foot reflexology is a pressure treatment that applies pressure to very specific areas of the foot. Occasionally it is also applied to the hand in a modified form. The pressure serves acupressure points that can be found on a foot reflex zone table.

hot stone massage

A hot stone massage is a massage in which smooth, flat, and hot stones are placed on key points on the body. The therapist can also use the stones, which can be oiled, to massage and work on the muscles.

The hot stone massage has a long historical tradition, especially in the ancient culture of the Native Americans. The indigenous people used the hot stone massages during ceremonies, which took place in a sweat lodge. The Indians sweated out their physical and mental impurities and an additional relaxation effect was achieved with the hot stones. The stones were so effective that they were also called "grandfather's stones". In Hawaii, hot stone massages have been used for similar purposes. But the type of stone was different, the Hawaiians used lava stones.
